We had a farewell party for Joel today and Donivon and Tracy's house. Don and Tracy and their kids Hunter, Kassy, and Emma were there of course. Dacia's parents, brother Gage, and Grandparents all drove from Shoshone just for the gathering. Torrey and Lana and their kids Triton and Taylan and Lana's sister Lacee and her kids Houston and Hagan came too. It was nice to have most of the family together to bid Joel goodbye and give him farewell wishes. We appreciate the support from our family
so much. It really means a lot to us to know that our family is behind us, is proud of Joel, and that they trust our judgement for the decision we've made. We had Joel's favorite foods for dinner including:
- cream cheese won tons with sweet and sour sauce as an appetizer
- orange garlic chicken as the main dish
- spinach salad with curry dressing (Thanks Mom!)
- creamy broccoli (Thanks Lana!)
- mashed potatoes with cheese and bacon in them (Thank you Tracy!)
- Grandma's famous orange punch (Thanks Gram!!)
- Grandma's famous coconut cream pie for dessert (Thanks again Gram!)
- Ice cream cake for a 2nd dessert
We had a really good time. It was nice to visit with everyone and tell them more about what Joel will be doing. Hunter and Kassy both made cards for Joel which were very sweet. We love our nieces and nephews and hope they don't forget us while we are away!

Sounds like it was a good farewell party. We wish we could have been there. Good luck with everything. You'll be in our prayers.
Kassy whispered into my ear before Dad and I left that night "Nana, but why does uncle joel have to go to the army?" She was so sincere, and you can tell that she loves Dacia and Joel from all the things she says about them. I just told her that it was part of Heavenly Father's plan for Joel. Also, I can't wait to see Dacia in her new princess army socks! love,mom
It was a nice party, we are thankful that everyone was able to come that lives close by. I wore my army socks on the day Joel was sworn in. I forget to post a picture of them, I'll add it later. Thanks for those Mom!
